Boss Snowplow Trip System

BOSS Snowplow utilizes three primary trip mechanisms to protect the plow, vehicle, and operator from impacts with hidden obstacles.

Trip-Edge System: The base of the plow’s cutting edge is spring-loaded and trips back when encountering smaller obstacles like manhole covers. This design keeps the rest of the plow upright and pushing snow, which prevents losing the entire load and minimizes the jolt to the truck and driver.

Full-Moldboard Trip System: The entire plow blade (moldboard) trips forward when encountering larger obstacles, such as curbs or frozen snowbanks. This system absorbs the shock from more significant impacts.

Dual-Trip System: Found on BOSS DXT plows, this combines both the trip-edge and full-moldboard mechanisms. The trip-edge handles smaller obstructions, while the full-moldboard trip engages for larger impacts, offering the most comprehensive protection available.
